Scrambling For Something To Wear, Try A Blue Sport Coat? |
Here is a scenario that might be a little too familiar for you. You are at work and are invited to a last minute dinner with some friends and your boss. Sadly you are the last one to get off work that day and the dinner is not too long after you get off, too soon for you to go home and change. You decide, since the dinner is close by, that you can run to a department store near the restaurant and grab another jacket or shirt to change into. You are heavily invested in the company and you want to show your boss that you can adapt to any situation and excel. Heading out of work as fast as you can, you get to the department store and head straight for the dress shirts. Browsing around you find a few shirts that seem to match your brown pants, but you aren't exactly sure. You can't seem to remember what colors you've been told go with brown and what colors to stay away from. Deciding to hold onto the shirts for a few, you check out the jackets and realize that a new jacket and shirt might work wonders. The jacket you have on isn't the nicest you own, so it is worth buying another. You look around what feels like the entire store, only to find nothing that jumps out at you. You pass by a mannequin that is wearing some pants that are strikingly similar to your own and it gives you an idea. The mannequin has on a blue plaid dress shirt and a navy blue sport coat. You figure that blue is a great color and the dress shirt you have in your hand would work. Asking around you find the blue sports coats and start looking. There are plenty of styles, and definitely ones that will not break your wallet. You find a few that look professional enough for a dinner, but not over the top. It is a darker blue, but it goes well with one of the lighter blue dress shirts that you found earlier. Along with your tan pants, you feel as though you came away a huge winner from having to buy a coat before a dinner. Finally you begin heading to the dinner with a smile on your face and a bounce in your step. The coat will be perfect for this dinner and any other semi formal gathering you might attend. Not to mention, it goes with almost all of your pants and plenty of the dress shirts you own. It gives you another option to wear to work as well, not the same boring old black pea coat you've had since college. Your boss notices the change of clothes, but appreciates that you took the time to grab something new, he compliments the jacket and asks you to sit next to him for dinner. This is your chance to impress him and make sure he knows just how much you love what you do. The blue sports coat might not have done the job by itself, but it was a great way to get his attention. The best part about this blue sport coat is that you can wear it to a variety of different events, from casual gatherings, to more formal dinner parties or work events. You can mix and match the shirt you wear underneath, along with the color of pants you choose. It doesn't hurt to have a few options and they all will look great with the blue sports coat. Another upside to this coat is that blue is a relatively vague term. You could opt for something a little brighter or something darker than your standard blue. This way, you might have something for those warmer days when lighter colors help keep you cool, or maybe you're just feeling more of a sky blue. Blue seems to go with just about everything, from black to brown, to grey and white, blue is one of those safe colors. It goes with almost everything and it always looks good. In the scenario above, you can see how another color of sport coat might work just as well. Blue is traditional, safe, easy, but also timeless. There are plenty of shades that you can work with and finding a matching outfit isn't usually that difficult. That's why on the go, this is the jacket you want to have in your repertoire. The ease of matching makes it the perfect choice to have with you just in case you need to meet someone during work or after work you wanted to grab a bite to eat with a friend. It works for casual situations and also some of the more formal ones. You could wear a blue sports coat to a wedding as a guest and you'd fit in just as much as when you wear it to a baseball game during the workday. There is nothing this coat cannot do so you should invest in one, just in case. A variety of colors and occasions to wear it in, the blue sports coat is the one piece of clothing that you can count on to work in any situation. That certainly takes the pressure off making sure you have something different for every occasion. What are you waiting for then? Go grab one on your lunch break and find a few situations where you can try it out! |
