Suit Size Chart

1. To Measure Height:

Stand against a wall (shoeless). Place a flat ruler across top of head to wall. Measure from that point down to the floor.

  • 5’4” to 5’7” = Short
  • 5’7 ½” to 5’11” = Regular
  • 5’11 ½” to 6’2 ½” = Long
  • 6’3” + Up = Extra Long

2. To Measure Chest:

Bring tape measure around the widest part of your chest, under your arms, completely around your torso. The average man will have a 6 inch difference between chest size and waist size (i.e. 44 chest will have 38 waist).

3. To measure Waist:

Waist measurement should be no different than your normal waist size when you purchase a pair of trousers. However, if you would like to measure, measure around the smallest part of the natural waist.

4. To Measure Seat or Hips (Optional):

For Men, measure around the fullest part of his seat.

5. To Measure Inseam:

Measure along the inner seam from the crotch to the bottom of pant leg

6. To Measure Sleeve:

Start measurement in the middle of your back, just under your neck, over your shoulder, around your bent elbow, to your wrist bone.

Sizing Guide

Use this helpful sizing guide to determine a variety of important measurements. (NOTE: although this chart is accurate for many of our customers, we cannot guarantee that it will work for everyone since people come in different shapes and sizes.) If you have any specific questions regarding sizing, please feel free to call us at 1-888-784-8872 during our business hours.

TUXEDO JACKET: Getting sizes for a tuxedo is a relatively easy process. You most likely fit into one of the (3) categories below:

  • 1)You already know your sizes if you own a suit or sports coat.

Tuxedo size scales are similar to suit size scales. If you currently own a suit or sports coat, simply look at your current coat to see what size it is ... it's that easy. You now know what tuxedo coat size you should wear. Tuxedo trousers work the same way. If you have a pair of suit pants, dress pants, or even khakis (NOTE: not tight jeans), you then have a good idea of what size waist you need for your tuxedo trousers

  • 2) You do not own a suit or sports coat. You do have access to a local tailor shop.

Once again, getting measurements for your tuxedo should be a relatively easy process. You can always visit a local tailor shop to have your measurements taken (NOTE: you should not be charged a fee because the tailor will usually expect you to come back to him for your tailoring/alterations needs).

  • 3) You do not own a suit or sports coat. You do not have access to a local tailor shop. You do have a tape measure and someone who can measure you.

As long as you have a tape measure and friend/family member, you can easily have your measurements accurately taken.
Be sure to stand up straight with your arms at your sides. Stand relaxed, yet still erect. Have your friend/family member take the tape measure around your chest (at its fullest part) UNDER your arms. Helpful hint: have your friend/family member insert a finger between the tape measure and your body to ensure a comfortable fit. This would be your "Chest Size". (Ex. 40, 42, 44, etc).

Next you want to find out if you are a "Short", "Regular", "Long", or "X-Long". This is determined by height. See the chart below,
if your height is
in the Blue area, you are a short.
If your height is listed in the red area, you are a regular.

If your height is listed in the green area, you are a long.

If your height is taller than 6'3" you are considered to be an X-Long.

TROUSERS: Tuxedo trousers: If you have a pair of suit pants, dress pants, or even khakis (NOTE: not tight jeans), you then have a good idea of what size waist you need for yourtuxedotrousers. If not, simply have your friend/family member take the tape measure and measure around your waist (this should be where you are comfortable wearing your trousers.Tradition used to state that you should wear your trousers up at your "belly button". Styles change over the years; it's rare that people still wear their trousers up that high). Bottom Line: You want to be comfortable whether you decide to wear your trousers up to belly-button or down closer to your hips.

SHIRTS: A shirt size is determined primarily by "neck size" and "sleeve length."
To measure neck size = place a tape measure around the base of your neck. Leave your index finger between your neck and tape measure to ensure a comfortable fit.
To measure sleeve length = place a tape measure at the base of your neck / top of back. Start at the base of neck, travel tape measure down to middle of shoulder, and then downto your wrist bone.

NOTE: With boys shirts, sleeve length is dictated by neck size. For example, "boy's X-Small" = 10-10.5 neck will have a 19.5 sleeve; "boys SMALL" = 11-11.5 neck will have a 23.5sleeve; "boys MEDIUM" = 12-12.5 neck will have a 27.5 sleeve; "boys LARGE" = 13-13.5 neck will have a 31.5 sleeve.*** Still confused? VESTS: To determine what vest size you should choose, see chart below. Tall sizing choices have an additional 2" in length to accommodate a longer torso.

guidelines-first

Vest size = vest size is primarily determined by coat size, but your waist size should also be considered with sizing.

guidelines-second

For example, suppose you wear a 50 coat, but your waist size is a 48. With a 50 coat, you would think that an X-Large (48 - 50) vest would be fine, but since your waist is 48 ... you would actually do better going with a 2X-Large (52 - 54) vest to accommodate your waist. Even though the vest will be large in your chest area, you can then have your tailor "taper" the vest in the chest area. Here's another example: Suppose you wear a 44R coat but only have a 34 inch waist. In this case, you would go with the Large (43 - 46) vest even though your waist range calls for a Medium. You would then take your vest to a tailor and have them "taper" the vest in the waist area. Remember: it's your tailor who can create perfection.

Boys Backless Vests:

"Boys Small" = 3 - 6 Coat Size

"Boys Medium" = 7 - 12 Coat Size

"Boys Large" = 14 - 18 Coat Size

CUMMERBUNDS:Cummerbunds = cummerbunds are adjustable. Standard cummerbunds fits a waist size 27 - 50. "Jumbo" cummerbunds fits waist sizes 50 - 60. (NOTE: Jumbo cummerbund setsare only available in "black."

NECKWEAR:Neckwear = neckwear is adjustable. *** Still confused? We take pride in assisting our customers. If you would like assistance in choosing your sizes, please feel free to call one of our friendly representatives at 1-888-784-8872.

SHOES:Shoe Size = Most of our shoe styles fit "true to size". The only exceptions would be "The Selector by After Six", "The Deco by Claiborne", or the "Crocodile by Sevasto Italiano". The Selector and Deco shoes run a little large; if you do decide to go in either of these styles, you should consider going with a 1/2 size smaller than what you normally wear. The Crocodile by Sevasto Italiano runs small, so you should consider going with a 1/2 size larger than what you would normally wear.
